The Walking and Preaching Dead

Have you ever heard of St Dennis? This loveable character is the patron Saint of Paris and headaches! In the third century, he was Bishop of Paris. He was martyred, with his companions Rusticus and Eleutherius, in connection with the Decian persecution of Christians, shortly after 250 AD.The story goes that he led so many people to Jesus that the local pagan priests got upset, complained to the Romans and had him serve a lengthy prison term before being beheaded on top of a hill. However once they chopped his head off he picked it back up and walked for up to 10km as he preached a message on repentance. That's right, he is literally "The Walking and Preaching Dead,"[gallery type="rectangular" columns="2" size="medium" ids="116,117,118,119"]As you can see this story has been captured in a number of pieces of art, and actually speaks to something deeper than just another cool mystical miracle. This phenomena is captured several times in history, and always in a time of persecution. If it is a sign and wonder it must point to something and this certainly does.Although you can harm our bodies, you cannot kill us. We are the ones that will live forever. There is so much life inside of us that we can walk around with our head in our arms. The same Spirit that rose Jesus from the dead now lives in us. We have so much life and power inside of us that nothing is impossible! As Jesus says,

"And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues;  they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well." Mark 16:17-18

Today, let us remember that we have abundant life inside of us, and allow it to pour out.
