How to Cast Out Demons
R-R-B-R
This tool is a simple way to remember the steps required for someone to break free from the kingdom of darkness, and step into the freedom of the Kingdom of God.
It is based on Jesus command to “repent and believe” - or Paul’s encouragement to “take off and put on”. The idea is that the demonic realm can only operate to the degree in which we allow it. We either partner with the demonic realm, or with The Spirit of God and we naturally reap the fruit of whatever partnership we have found ourselves in. (If you want a little more of an in-depth look, check out this blog here.)
I’ve used this tool on and off since 2010 and have seen many people break free from the demonic lies that have held them in bondage. It’s a simple process but when followed packs a powerful punch. I hope you find it useful.
I’ve included a sample prayer after each section, however the more you can personalise these to each person and situation, the more effective the prayer will be.
RRBR stands for: Repent, Renounce, Break, Renew.
If someone is partnering with darkness, manifesting the demonic, or just needs freedom, then take the person through the following steps of prayer.
Repent – Repent means to change your mind. Recognise the story of darkness you are agreeing with, and change your mind on the story you want to live.
“God I change my mind! I don’t want to agree with the story of darkness I’m living in!”
Renounce – Every story you have walked in is a story you have partnered with. Renouncing is where we rip up the partnership we have made with the story of darkness. This is where we decide that we are no longer partnering with the enemy and what the enemy has to say about us. The enemy is a legalist and if you partner with him he will bring out the partnership agreement. It must be renounced to take away its right to speak into your life.
“I renounce walking in the story of the kingdom of darkness. I choose to no longer partner with the demonic realm.”
Break – In the name of Jesus, who has all authority, and has given us authority, we break every chain and stronghold that have kept us bound. We break ties to our spirit, soul and body.
“In Jesus name I break: All emotional or souls ties with the story of darkness, all ties to our body with the story of darkness and all ties in the spiritual realm with the story of darkness.”
Renew – We now agree with a new story – we agree with and choose to partner with the Good News of the Kingdom of God!
“Jesus you are King of my life. I choose to agree with you and partner with you! May your kingdom come and will be done in my life now and forever more!”
Once you have led someone through this process it is important to stay in touch with them and teach them the importance of Prayer, Confession, Bible Reading, being filled with the Holy Spirit, and being involved in a community of faith for ongoing discipleship.
