3 Keys to Receiving Your Breakthrough
Have you ever heard people share stories of how Jesus touched their life and they were never the same again? Perhaps you are addicted to something, or perhaps you are living in darkness unable to see a way out, or maybe you need healing. Perhaps you just want a touch of God so you can live out the Kingdom Lifestyle. The good news is that Jesus does indeed want to touch your heart, fill you with passion, and send you out into the world to shine bright and long.
This week I have not been able to get the story of the woman who had been sick for 12 years out of my head. You can read the story in Mark 5:25-34. But here is the recap.
A woman had been sick with a blood disorder for 12 years. She tried various doctors but none could help her. This illness meant she was unclean and therefore excluded from community. Although she wasn’t allowed in crowds she snuck through one in order to touch Jesus and she was healed instantly!
Inspired by her story, here are my Three Keys to Receiving Your Breakthrough:
Stay Hungry – The woman had been sick for 12 years, and her suffering was becoming worse and worse. Yet, she stayed hungry, daring to believe that God would heal her.
She overcame her past.
Sometimes our situation gets worse before we get our breakthrough. This woman teaches us that no matter how much time goes by, we need to stay hungry and believe that God is willing to touch you. We need to overcome our past and stay in a state of hunger for God.
Fully Surrender – The woman was not allowed to be near people. Being caught would result in further rejection, mocking and even death. However she fully committed to pushing through the crowd, even if it meant she was killed in the process.
She overcame her fear.
We can often be overawed by the stories of incredible miracles. But what we often miss is the incredible risk it takes to step out in those situations. If we want to see a breakthrough we need to put it all on the line even if it means looking like a fool, being mocked, or even being killed. This woman teaches us the power of a full surrender.
Step Out – Although no doctor could help her, she dared to believe Jesus could heal her so she stepped out. She exercised her faith with a risky action.
She overcame doubt.
It’s easy to say that we believe God will touch us, heal us, set us free, or fill us with a passion and power to reach the lost. It is another thing entirely to act like it. The Apostle James reminds us that faith without works is dead. Faith requires action.
What are you waiting for? What miracles are you believing for? This woman’s story reminds us to:
Stay Hungry no matter how long we’ve been waiting,
Fully Surrender and be ok with the possibility of looking foolish, and finally to,
Step Out and put our faith into action.
I’m positive that as you read this God will give you some next steps. I’m also confident that we’ll see some breakthrough together. When this happens I’d love to hear from you, so feel free to contact me!
